Late 80s. Industrias Pesqueras gets ready for globalization

Valentín Paz-Andrade passes away in 1987. The magazine has just turned 60. His son Alfonso Paz-Andrade takes the helm — a successful businessman, cultural patron and driving force behind the Vigo World Fishing Exhibitions of 1973 and 1985 (always organised from the magazine's headquarters). He modernises the publication and reaches several milestones:

• The internationalisation of Industrias Pesqueras (with subscribers not only in Spain and Portugal, but across Europe, the Americas and Africa).
• The promotion of joint ventures and campaigns to create a suitable legal framework.
• The organisation of the World Fishing Exhibitions of 1991, 1997, 2003 and 2009.

Against the backdrop of a complex world, new challenges emerge:

• Spain's interests within the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
• The freeze on European aid for shipbuilding.
• The EEC agreements with Morocco and Mauritania.
